Gerald's passion as an former athlete for pure nature, wild animals and humans extending the limits, made him becoming a „natural born“ film maker. Starting as an autodidact his natural talent and his intense experience facing outdoor adventures sets his documentaries and movies in a special position. Storyline´s of Gerald Salmina tell about the inspiration and reasoning of those who master big life feats. In his stories he illustrates the interplay between body and mind. To live up the drama Gerald operates especially in "bigger than life" locations to document the realness, no matter how difficult it will be to realize a movie in such an environment.
Gerald Salmina: “Its all about telling stories of enlightened moments when being in the wilderness and playing with mother nature´s pride. I´m thankful of being allowed to be out here, I feel like privileged to witness all these amazing features with my camera."
Gerald won innumerable awards around the world such as the Romy for the Best Documentary (STREIF – ONE HELL OF A RIDE), the Jury Grand Prize of the X-Dance Film Festival or the Grand Prize of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (MOUNT ST. ELIAS). Working that successful as a producer and director wasn't foreseeable at the beginning when being a windsurf pro who went to Hawaii to live his dream. He was learning by experience while he was driven to capture the magic light and beauty of the Pacific Ocean, the mountains of the Himalaya and the Mount St. Elias range in Alaska. All of them made Gerald going further, to produce and direct movies using mother nature as his backdrop and motivation.
